SECONDARY
Developing Independent Thinkers. Inspiring Lifelong Learners.
The Secondary years are a period of significant academic, personal and intellectual development. As students mature, they are encouraged to deepen their understanding, challenge their thinking and take increasing ownership of their learning. At Concord College International School, our Secondary School provides a stimulating and supportive environment where students are inspired to achieve academic excellence whilst developing the confidence, character and resilience to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Following the English National Curriculum and leading towards the IGCSE programme, students benefit from a broad and balanced education that prepares them for Sixth Form and future university study.
Our Approach
A Challenging and Engaging Learning Environment
Secondary education is about more than acquiring knowledge. It is about developing the ability to think critically, communicate effectively and approach complex problems with confidence.

Our teachers encourage students to question, analyse and explore ideas through engaging lessons, practical learning and meaningful discussion. As academic expectations increase, students are supported to become independent learners who take responsibility for their progress whilst maintaining a genuine enjoyment of learning.
Through high expectations and personalised guidance, every student is encouraged to achieve their personal best.
Academic
Our Curriculum
The Secondary curriculum follows the English National Curriculum before progressing towards internationally recognised IGCSE qualifications.
Students study a broad range of subjects that provide a strong academic foundation whilst allowing them to discover their individual strengths and interests.
The curriculum includes:
As students progress, they are supported in making informed subject choices that reflect their interests, strengths and future aspirations.
Enrichment
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Education extends well beyond academic study.
Students are encouraged to participate actively in a wide range of co-curricular activities, leadership opportunities, academic societies, creative arts, sport and community initiatives that enrich their educational experience.
These opportunities develop confidence, teamwork, communication skills and resilience whilst encouraging students to discover new passions and broaden their perspectives.
Learning beyond the classroom complements academic achievement and contributes to the development of well-rounded, confident young people.
Wellbeing
Pastoral Care
Adolescence is a period of significant personal growth, and strong pastoral care plays an essential role in supporting every student’s wellbeing.
Our pastoral system provides guidance, encouragement and individual support throughout the Secondary years, helping students develop resilience, self-confidence and positive relationships.
Teachers work closely with students and families to ensure that every learner feels supported academically, socially and emotionally as they navigate the opportunities and challenges of adolescence.
Within a caring and respectful community, students learn to value kindness, integrity and responsibility alongside academic achievement.
Progression
Preparing for Sixth Form
As students complete their IGCSE studies, they are encouraged to reflect upon their strengths, interests and future aspirations.
Through personalised academic guidance and careful subject selection, students are well prepared for the increased independence and academic challenge of Sixth Form.
They leave the Secondary School with secure academic foundations, growing intellectual maturity and the confidence to embrace the next stage of their educational journey.
