RIGOUR, KINDNESS & CREATIVITY

Building Strong Foundations for a Lifetime of Learning

The Primary years are a time of remarkable growth and discovery. As children’s confidence develops, so too does their capacity to think independently, ask meaningful questions and embrace new challenges. At Concord College International School, our Primary School provides a stimulating and supportive environment where every child is encouraged to develop academically, socially and personally.

Following the English National Curriculum, our Primary programme builds secure foundations in knowledge, skills and understanding, whilst nurturing the values of Rigour, Kindness and Creativity that define the Concord educational experience.

Our Approach

A Love of Learning

Children who enjoy learning are more likely to become confident, independent and successful learners.

Our Primary School encourages curiosity and intellectual exploration through engaging lessons, practical experiences and meaningful enquiry. We seek to inspire children to become active participants in their own learning, developing the confidence to ask questions, solve problems and think critically.

Learning is carefully planned to challenge every child whilst providing the encouragement and support they need to achieve their personal best.

Academic

Our Curriculum

The Primary curriculum follows the English National Curriculum, providing a broad and balanced education that develops essential knowledge and skills across a wide range of subjects.

Core subjects include:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science

Our curriculum encourages children to make connections across subjects, apply their learning in meaningful contexts and develop the confidence to become independent thinkers.

These are complemented by a rich curriculum including:

  • Humanities
  • Computing
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Mandarin Chinese
  • Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)
  • Bahasa/Malaysian History
(Compulsory for Malaysian students in line with MOE regulations)

Our curriculum encourages children to make connections across subjects, apply their learning in meaningful contexts and develop the confidence to become independent thinkers.

Enrichment

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Some of the most valuable learning takes place beyond traditional classroom settings.

Educational visits, enrichment activities, themed learning experiences and co-curricular opportunities encourage children to apply their knowledge, develop new interests and build important life skills.

Whether collaborating on projects, performing on stage, participating in sporting activities or exploring the natural world, students develop confidence, resilience and creativity through a wide variety of experiences.

Wellbeing

Pastoral Care

A happy child learns with confidence.

Pastoral care is central to life in the Primary School. We place great importance on creating a safe, inclusive and caring environment where every child feels respected, supported and valued.

Strong relationships between teachers, students and families enable us to understand each child’s individual needs, celebrate their achievements and provide guidance as they grow in confidence and independence.

Through daily interactions and positive role modelling, children learn the importance of kindness, responsibility and respect for others.

Progression

Preparing for Secondary

The Primary years provide the academic and personal foundations upon which future learning is built.

As students progress towards Secondary School, they develop the independence, organisational skills and intellectual confidence required to embrace increasing academic challenge.

Most importantly, they carry forward a genuine enthusiasm for learning and a strong sense of personal responsibility that will continue to support them throughout their educational journey.
